“Social workers respect the inherent dignity and worth of a person.”
This phrase has stayed with me since I first began my journey in the helping profession more than 15 years ago. It continues to guide the way I show up for clients: with compassion, curiosity, respect, and a belief that meaningful change is possible. I understand that healing can be both difficult and deeply rewarding, and I believe the therapeutic relationship should be grounded in empathy, trust, and genuine connection.
I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina and my Bachelor of Social Work from Appalachian State University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in the state of North Carolina. Over the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a variety of settings, including residential treatment centers, homeless shelters and resource centers for young adults, and the public school system as a School Social Worker. These experiences have shaped my belief that each person’s story is unique and that therapy should be collaborative, practical, and tailored to the individual.
My approach to therapy is compassionate, person-centered, and strengths-based. I draw from a variety of therapeutic models, including elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. In our work together, we may explore how difficult thoughts and emotions show up, how to create space for those experiences, and how to move toward choices that are more closely aligned with your values. I also incorporate solution-focused strategies to help clients identify strengths, build on what is already working, and take meaningful steps toward change.
As a lifelong musician and creative person, I value the role of creativity in self-expression, connection, and healing. While therapy does not need to involve music or creative expression, I have found that creativity, humor, and curiosity can be helpful tools for building insight, challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, and approaching difficult emotions in a more accessible way. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves while also feeling supported in making changes that matter to them.
I work with clients experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, stress, low self-esteem, life transitions, relationship difficulties, school-related challenges, emotional regulation, family stress, and challenges related to parenting. I also enjoy supporting parents as they navigate concerns related to their child’s behavior, emotional needs, school functioning, and overall development. My goal is to support clients in developing greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and a clearer sense of direction as they navigate life’s challenges.
