Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina (LCMHC# 12286). I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2014. I am a member of Chi Sigma Iota Professional and Academic Honors Society, American Counseling Association and North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.
Prior to counseling I worked 6 years as a social worker at a rehabilitation facility. I began my counseling career in 2016, serving Cabarrus and Rowan counties. I have worked with a wide range of individuals including children as young as three up to adults, as well as couples and family counseling.
I have also worked with middle and high school students on self esteem, self-confidence and social skills. I am a certified facilitator of the Triple P Positive Parenting programto assist parents in their relationships with their children. I am a dementia specialist and have a passion for working with the elderly and their caregivers. I am also a certified Grief counselor. I have experience working with new moms who experience postpartum. I also work with individuals who are dealing with long term illness or chronic illness.
My counseling techniques are based on client needs. I typically use
cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, client-centered therapy, reality therapy, Christian based therapy and solution-focused therapy. My counseling style is based on the goal of assisting the client in reaching their personal therapy goals. I strive on developing a trusting and positive therapeutic relationship with each and every client.
Fun facts about me. My great grandmother is the one who first sparked my passion for helping others, especially the elderly. I have been a Type 1 diabetic since I was 9 years old. I have a passion for caring for animals, especially squirrels. I love escape rooms and hanging out with my family. I love to laugh and to make others laugh. I have a true passion to help others.
